Diet culture

Diet culture in our society is beyond measure right now. We hear about what you should and shouldn’t eat on a daily basis. Don’t eat fruits, it’s just sugar, don’t eat pasta, it’s just carbs, don’t eat candy, eat this veggie, but not that one. Do a lemon water detox, combine this food with that one, and so on and so on.

Did you know that 95% of all diets fail? It’s true! Many dietitians say that you can only obtain a diet for 6 weeks. Why? Because diets are not sustainable, because you are restricting yourelf from all the things your body needs and wants. When do diet work? When they become a lifestyle. Healthy lifestyle is achiavable and it doesn’t have to include such higly restrictive diets. It can be simple and your food can be tasty and enjoyable. It’s about balance and not restriction. You can make a concious decision about what goes into your body and not feel guilty about it. It’s about adding things into your diet and not thaking things away from it. 80/20 rule is a great one for that. Put into your body food that is high in nutrients 80% of the time and leave 20% for whatever your hear desires. That way you can have a healthy and sustainable lifestyle without feeling guilty or restricted.
