CAN YOU GET STRONGER WITHOUT GYM?

The answer to this is very simple, yes. There are number of way how you can get stronger without even leaving your livingroom. Let’s go through some of them together.

  1. PLANKS – the almighty planks. Planks are number 1 exercise to build a strong core. But it doesn’t stop there, plank actually targets your entire body; shoulders, legs, hips. To do a basic plank, start in a push up poition and bend your elbows, so that you are resting on your forearms, hold the position for 30 – 40 sec.
  2. BODY- WEIGHT MOVEMENTS – use your own body weight to do the exercises. There is a sea of exercises that you can do with your own body. If your do need some extra resistance, feel free to use your furniture. Use your chair to do 1 leg squat or split squat, use your couch to perform dips, etc.
  3. EXPLOSIVE STRENGTH EXERCISES – Plyometrics are explosive, powerful movements that increase strength by putting an intense demand on your muscles. Plyometrics are to be used with caution and are not suitable for beginners, in my opinion.
  4. WORKOUT LIKE A KID – we all remember how fun it was to do exercises as a kid. So why not start again? Make it fun. Do a bear crawl and crawl arond your apartment. Or walk around your room in a table top position. Doesn’t that sound more fun than lifting weight at the gym? To me it sure does.
